WELCOME...

Thank you for visiting ESS on the Web. Review the brief summary below and take a moment to explore the rest of the site. In addition to information on ESS there are tips for executive candidates, many useful links to other web pages and discussion groups, news items and more... A few words to prospective candidates;

  • ESS, unlike many other firms and services on the web, does not release background information forwarded by any candidate to any third party without the prior express permission of that candidate.
  • This same policy applies to all professionals ESS works with regardless of the means of recruitment. Should you decide to contact ESS, any conversation or correspondence will be treated as personal and confidential by ESS.
  • All ESS services are retained by corporate clients. There are never any fees required from any of the executive candidates ESS works with under any circumstances.

SOME GENERAL NOTES TO POTENTIAL EXECUTIVE CANDIDATES:

  • ESS is a retained search firm and executive recruitment service. By that we mean ESS is retained by confidential corporate clients to recruit executive talent for specific permanent positions.
  • ESS lists a limited number of these open position descriptions in the News, Positions and Career Map sections of this web to give you an idea of the types of professionals ESS is seeking.
  • If you feel you qualify for one of these positions you can reach ESS through the contact information link.
  • If you feel you have a colleague or acquaintance that may be interested in one of these positions you can also refer that individual confidentially to ESS. Your identity will not be revealed to the candidate or any other party unless you deem it appropriate.

Q: What if my background is not a fit for any of the listed positions?

A: If you feel participation in the ESS Talent Pool makes sense as part of your overall career strategy your submittal is welcome.

  • Review the contents of this web site to determine if contacting ESS would be beneficial to your career.
  • The Executive Summary page contains a table which summarizes the ESS search practice sectors.
  • Most ESS candidates are senior executives in engineering, construction or hi-tech with salaries in the six figure range and above.
  • Most Talent Pool participants have graduate level degrees.  Review the Talent Pool page for more details on how it works.
  • ESS conducts searches for international and domestic positions in marketing, management, project management and technical disciplines.

Q: I presently hold a senior level position - am I welcome?

A: ESS encourages your participation. The Talent Pool was designed for executives presently managing day to day operations.

  • Practicing professionals are encouraged to contact ESS and enter the Talent Pool.
  • The Talent Pool confidentiality policy was created for just this purpose.
  • The best time to forward a resume: when your sector is in or anticipating a growth phase and you are presently practicing in an executive capacity.
  • The talent Pool is designed for passive candidates, that is to say executives who are presently not actively seeking a career transition, but would be interested in reviewing appropriate opportunities should they become available.

Q: I am a recent MBA - does the talent pool make sense for me?

A: Although most Talent Pool members are senior executives, recent MBA's with a program emphasis on technology, the international sector or engineering and construction experience are encouraged to participate.

  • Professionals who have experience practicing with a Consulting Firm and have recently completed a graduate program are especially encouraged to participate in the ESS Talent Pool.
  • Recent MBA's with an emphasis in international studies, and those with fluency in multiple languages and prior experience in international locals are also encouraged to participate in the Talent Pool.

Q: I am an international executive practicing outside of the United States - am I welcome?

A: ESS encourages your participation. Professionals from around the world are represented in the Talent Pool.

  • ESS has conducted international assignments in many regions of the world and welcomes global executive talent.
  • Please forward correspondence and resumes in English, or provide a translation with the original copy.

Q: I am conducting an active job search for a new position and I have to move quickly - Is the Talent Pool the right resource?

A: The ESS Talent Pool should be viewed as an overall career transition strategy.

  • Please be aware that the ESS Talent Pool is not an employment service, outplacement option or job site, but rather a service retained by corporate and consulting clients, and a utility used by ESS in the execution of search projects.
  • As such, a submittal to the ESS Talent Pool is an overall strategic career move and networking option, rather than a tactic in a specific, active job search.
  • The Talent Pool is designed as a tool for passive executive candidates who are interested in exploring appropriate opportunities as they may arise, but are not undertaking an urgent, active job search.
  • For those who are active candidates, aggressively engaged in an ongoing job search, The ESS Talent Pool may not be the best option. Unless the requirements of a listed position are closely met, the effort will most likely not produce the desired result.
  • ESS and exec.nu should not be considered as an outplacement or employment service as these are not the practice's stated missions; any candidate efforts to these ends may be misplaced.

Forward your resume to ESS:

  • If you have a particular career goal, a specific company or group of companies that you would like to be a part of or a geographic region that is a priority please indicate this information clearly in a cover letter which preferably will be forwarded as an email attachment along with your resume.
  • There may be an appropriate position in the future-if so you will be contacted for permission to release information on your background to the ESS client at that time.
  • Should a mutual interest develop meetings and interviews will be scheduled.
  • Until then any information you forward will be treated as personal and confidential and will not be released to any third party.
  • Although a formal resume is preferred, ESS understands some senior executives may not have such a document at the ready. While one is under development the resume builder can provide you a means of entering the Talent Pool.

Regarding your contact information:

  • ESS recommends and requests specifically that you include a personal, private email address .
  • Be aware that should ESS need to reach you this email address will be the first point of contact and if it does not function you may not receive another notice.
  • You could be contacted in the future, perhaps six months or more from now. If the email address you have provided is no longer active, you will likely miss the opportunity.
  • ESS will not forward Spam email to this address or sell, trade or lease this email address to any third party - nor will you be automatically enrolled in any email service.
  • Without an appropriate email address as part of your profile, your submission is ineffectual.

A special Note regarding third Party Resume Services and Bulk Email:

  • Unfortunately ESS does not accept resumes identified as being forwarded by third parties, executive agents or resume services.
  • Messages of these types are routinely indexed  out and deleted from the ESS Talent Pool.
  • Correspondence recognized as bulk email will also not be accepted.
  • Only personal correspondence and email  addressed uniquely to ESS is accepted.

Q: Is there a way I can be kept aware of what's going on?

A: You can subscribe to ESS NEWS if you like.

  • Based on the resume submitted to the Talent Pool, ESS will contact you directly should an opportunity identified as appropriate for your background arise. If you like you can subscribe to ESS NEWS to get general updates, notifications about new searches underway as ess and news about executive transition trends.
  • This is strictly an opt-in candidate service - you will not automatically receive this publication.
  • ESS will not sell, trade or rent your email information to any third party.
  • This is a private ESS candidate service, and a non-commercial publication.
  • You may unsubscribe at any time by simply activating a link in the email newsletter.

Your subscriber status will have no effect whatsoever on any potential future candidacy.
